Insights
Describe your perfect weekend.
Begin with Fajr out in nature, watching the sunrise while listening to the sounds of nature as it awakens. Taking a hike and enjoying a picnic in the warmth of the sun while sitting under the shade of a tree. Taking time to pray in the openness of a meadow or down by an empty beach. Taking in the sounds of rushing water that leads up to a beautiful waterfall. Catching the sunset from a high climate and there's just enough darkness after Isha to take in the stars and constellations using the naked eye and/or a telescope. No lights, hustle and bustle of the city! Just the cool calmness of nature under the darkness of the sky.
How many kids would you like to have?
None I have four young adults and several grandchildren I adore
How important is someone's physical appearance to you?
It shows how well they care for themselves. It they don't practice self-care, physical, emotional and mental it's going to prove problematic in the marriagel
What is the purpose of marriage?
For me at this age it's important to have a mate who is focused on the akhirah but, still able to navigate this dunya to please Allah. This is our temporary home so my husband must not only be aware of this reality but, actively preparing to meet Allah and we support each other in meeting that end successfully, in shaa Allah.
What is the most important lesson that you've learned?
Allah before everybody and everything! To rely on Allah first and to support and encourage my husband while he also supports and encourages me. Being humble and grateful doesn't mean being a human doormat.
What do your friends like about you most?
I enjoin them to do good deeds and we are striving together to gain Jannah. We respect each other's opinions, feelings and differences. They like that I'm very no nonsense. I'm honest, humble but, will speak my mind appropriately.
What gets on your nerves?
Noise, crowds, nagging, laziness, empty promises, scammers and messiness in all of it's forms. Nasty environments, bugs inside any home I live in. If you're looking for a green card, keep looking because you won't find one here..
What is the most important thing in a relationship?
Honesty, respect, communication and trust
What do you hope to be doing five years from now?
I hope to have moved to the country of my choice if I'm not married. Have entered into retirement (in two more years, in shaa Allah) and able to focus more on Allah in shaa Allah. My alternative to leaving the country is to purchase an RV to live in and travel the country, in shaa Allah.
