The Washington Post also covered a story about breath clearing environment at a matrimonial point in D.C, where single Muslim men were roaming around single women and were having flirtiest conversations over dinner. Although this whole scenario seems like young Muslims in America are having very non-judgmental attitude towards women but its not true. This is quite difficult for single Muslim women in America to break free from traditional norms regarding dating. In a hookup culture where every man demands physical intimacy more than respectful emotional connection, its quite difficult to maintain a reputation of purity. Slut shaming is quite common in dating culture of young Muslims in America, despite all the sexual liberation. So its quite difficult for Muslim women to date young Muslim men. According to a survey conducted by Islamicmarriage, 85% of Muslim men in America want to marry a young woman who is pure. In regard to this situation, a young woman from Brooklyn stated that its not worth to spoil your reputation by dating men who wants more than you could afford to give. She also added that you can fuse Muslim traditions and western culture together, but cost will be high because single women who are independent and are on job also want to get married. The shadows of conservative Muslim culture cross the crazy lights of modern hookup culture in America every now and then, because this is obvious. Nearly all Muslims grow up in households where they are told that they must not date. Their conservative culture doesn't allow them to think about dating. And when they try to get involved in a hookup culture, they face their old conservative mindset. They want to date a single woman but the stereotypical mindset they owned since childhood always scare off women.
