I value honesty, transparency, integrity, and consistency. I was born and raised in the United States. My parents were married for 25 years and are divorced. Family is important to me. I wasn’t lucky enough to have grown up easy, and although you can’t see them, I still wear the scars. I have been working hard to learn how to navigate the ways I adapted to survive, and I am proud of my growth. I believe that we should always be learning and growing and asking questions. I am a strong proponent of mental health services. I couldn’t be with someone who doesn’t “believe” in mental illness or who looks down on people living with it. I work in the mental health field as a counselor. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Social Work in 2016 and 2018, respectively. I believe that people are people and matter, regardless of racial, ethnic, religious, or political differences and regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. I will not tolerate homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia. No one can know any other person’s relationship with God. For all we know, that person we’re judging is more beloved to God than we are. Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth, and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1924
