The mayor of High Wycombe, Zia Ahmed, was joined by local Imam, Sultan Mehmood to cut the ribbon at the opening of the 'Haji Baba' meat counter in the supermarket. The 24-hour supermarket has a steady stream of customers throughout the day and will stay open as the renovations continue in different sections of the store. The current departments will receive upgrades.
Halal butchers will open in some of the other six hundred and fourteen Asda stores across the U.K. and offer a selection of meats at their halal-certified counters. Their range of meats will include lamb chops, chicken breasts, and joints, as part of the stores initiative to offer a greater choice of meats to customers.
The store's General Manager, Arrash Mahdavi, is excited about the transformations which are taking place in the store and said that they are looking forward to revamping their current departments and "bringing a new and exciting feel to the store," as they offer new services and product lines to their customers.
The supermarket renovations will be completed soon. However, the optician's premises is scheduled to open at a later stage this year.
